As we all know , solid gold jewellery is a substantial investment and in the past gold plated was the only affordable option. But unfortunately the downside to gold plated jewellery is that it tarnishes easily due to wear and tear, causing the metal underneath the gold plating to show through and possibly to react with the wearers skin.

However now we have a wonderful alternative - Gold filled !

Gold filled (or rolled gold) comprises a solid layer of 14K gold bonded to a base metal eg. brass, copper etc.

Gold filled jewellery contains 100x more gold alloy than gold-plated and because that gold layer is so much thicker it means gold-filled jewellery is far more durable, less likely to tarnish or to cause an allergic skin reaction.

If looked after properly , kept away from water and heat, it is estimated gold filled jewellery can last up to anywhere between 10 and 30 years.
